Pornpen Hantrakool has been a Professor at Tenri University in Japan and an Associate Professor at Silpakorn University of Thailand. Her teaching specializations include Indian and Sri Lankan history, Eastern Civilization (China and India), Thai History, Japanese History, Southeast Asian History, Vietnamese Studies, Historiography and the Philosophy of History. She has taught and done research widely in many universities before her retirement. She has published widely in Thai and in English. Professor Hantrakool now writes and translates poetry as well as songs. She was granted an honorable certificate with a decoration from the Vietnamese Writer Association for her pioneering contribution to Vietnamese literature in Thailand.
