Shafey Kidwai is a bilingual critic, reviewer, translator and communication scientist who has twelve books to his credit. His doctoral thesis Forging bond with Modernism : An Assessment of SirSyed ‘s Periodicals has broken a new ground in Sir Syed Studies and critical appraisal of the nineteenth century vernacular journalism. It was published simultaneously in Germany and India. His Latest book comprising twelve articles on different genres of literature and journalism has just been published by the Cambridge university Press. The National Academy Of Letters -Sahitya Academy has published his three books – Meeraji, R.K.Naryan and Michael Madhu Sudan Dutt Fiction Mutaleat : Pus Sakhtiyati Tanazur and Khabar Nigari, are his widely appreciated books. He also prepared style book for ETV Urdu and glossary of mass communication terms published by NCPUL, NewDelhi. He writes regularly for The Hindu on literary and cultural aspects. He is a general council member of Sahitya Academy and also a member of its Urdu advisory board. At present he is also the convener of Urdu Advisory Committee of Bhartiya Jnanpith. Professor Kidwai visited U.K. Thailand, Syria, Doha and Pakistan (twice) to present papers in seminars. Presently he is Chairman, department of mass communication AMU Aligarh
